Director of the African Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Data-Intensive Sciences, Uganda
Dr. Daudi Djingo serves as the Director of the African Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Data-Intensive Sciences, which provides cutting-edge computational platforms for data-intensive biomedical research and supports MSc and PhD Bioinformatics training. He is involved with continent-wide bioinformatics and genomics capacity building, where he is a co-investigator of the Ugandan node of the eLwazi Open Data Science Platform (ODSP) - the consortium component that provides tools, computational platforms and skills for genomic data analysis and storage to the continent-wide DSI-Africa research hubs and training centers. Concurrently, he serves as Principal Investigator for several research and capacity building programs at the interface of biomedical research and technology. His research interests focus on human genomics and its intersection with disease, particularly cancer. He is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Computer Science at Makerere University and earned my PhD in Bioinformatics as a Fulbright Scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology, US, preceded by an MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of Leeds, UK and a BSc Biochemistry from Makerere University, Uganda.
