Dr Fredrick Mobegi is Senior Bioinformatician at the Department of
Health, Government of Western Australia. He is a bioinformatician
and computational biologist with a background in Biochemistry, and
experience and skills in microbial and cancer genomics,
immunogenetics, population genetics/genomics, (meta)genomics,
microbiomics, and transcriptomics.
Fredrick obtained his PhD in 2016 from Radboud University Medical
Centre in the Netherlands, an MSc in Bioinformatics degree from
Wageningen University & Research Centre, the Netherlands, and a BSc
in Biochemistry from Kenyatta University, Kenya. He has had an
extensive research career path spanning over 10 years and across
four continents. He has worked in health departments, the
pharmaceutical industry, non-profit organizations, and academia, and
co-authored a few manuscripts/book chapters in peer-reviewed
journals. Fredrick has also worked with sequencing data from all
major sequencing platforms and has led genomics/genetics efforts in
large national and multinational projects. His interests are
integrating and translating genomics tools and technologies for
sequencing data analysis into basic applications in healthcare and
biotechnology. I can work collaboratively in a multidepartment
organisation. Fredrick tweets about current affairs and (sometimes )
science with the handle
@mobeginomics.
