Kevin Marsh is a Professor of Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford. He is a global health researcher who has spent most of his career living and working in Africa. In 1989 he established a series of research projects on malaria in Kilifi on the Kenyan coast. These subsequently developed into an international programme working on all aspects of health in east Africa of which he was director until 2014. Kevin has a particular interest in research capacity and scientific leadership in Africa. In 2014 he played a leading role in the development of a new platform for supporting research in Africa, which has subsequently formed the basis for the Science For Africa Foundation. From 2016 he worked with colleagues to establish the Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) which aims to make Africa a strategic priority for the University of Oxford and to facilitate new approaches to equitable partnerships across all academic disciplines.
