Assistant Prof. Victor Oria is an early-career researcher with a deep focus on cancer biology, particularly investigating how tumors re-engineer the vascular system to drive progression and metastasis. His current research delves into two critical areas: angiocrine signaling and vascular mimicry, exploring their influence on metastasis initiation and the colonization of secondary organs.
In addition to his foundational research, Assistant Prof. Oria is passionate about clinical data science, where he works to uncover correlations between gene expression profiles and histopathological parameters in cancer patients. This effort aims to deepen the understanding of tumor behavior and enhance predictions of drug responses.
Driven by a commitment to improving cancer outcomes, Assistant Prof. Oria envisions building a robust and comprehensive cancer research program under the Integrated Cancer Research Foundation (ICRF) of Kenya. His ultimate goal is to address the unique cancer challenges faced by local populations, contributing to better health equity and innovative solutions.
