Dr Joseph Kamtchum is a Neurologist and Neuroscientist with expertise in Neuroepidemiology, Neurovascular Ultrasound, and Translational Stroke Research. He is currently a Wellcome Trust Early Career Fellow at the University of Oxford Wolfson Centre for Prevention of Stroke and Dementia, working to establish the Oxford-Cameroon Atherosclerosis and Stroke Study (OxCASS).
The overarching goal of the project is to investigate ethnic differences in stroke aetiology in the United Kingdom and clarify stroke epidemiology and mechanisms in Cameroon, Central Africa. His ultimate goal is to establish an atherosclerosis and stroke program in Africa with the mission of (1) generating evidence to inform local stroke policies and guidelines, (2) training the next generations of stroke clinician-scientists, (3) enabling the inclusion of African populations into international stroke research initiatives, and (4) delivering quality stroke care for all.
